History

Brief Historical Background

Welcome Dear Friends!
The LWF member churches are young churches with many small congregations in the villages. Most of the small congregations do not have full time pastors and rely much on evangelists. MLC in the past has sent congregation members for theological study to other theological seminaries and colleges, but when they practice they lack Lutheran identity and understanding in area of the emphasis of the spiritual gifts and its impacts to the local churches.

Therefore, Lutheran Bible Training Institute (LBTI) was founded officially on 4th of June, 2008 with the dedication prayer of the president Bishop Dr. Andrew Mang Lone for the glory of the Lord. It is an inter-denominational training ground and is existed with the purpose of training and equipping men and women with the Holy word of God that enables them to serve effective ministry for the Lord in Myanmar and even in the World.

In the years 2008 / 2009, 11 students completed Bachelor of Theology (B.Th). Since then, due to financial and space constraints the course stopped. Currently, we are still seeking some support to construct mainly two facilities. One is for men’s hostel and the other is for women’s hostel.
Once the building is in place, 30 students will come and study theological education each year. Rev. James San Aung, Mission Director of MLC has been appointed to serve as Principal at LBTI. Lutheran Bible Training Institute (LBTI) will provide three year Bachelor of Theology course.
The LBTI also provides periodical workshops on theological education, organic agriculture development and holistic mission. We train and equip students to be evangelists, missionaries, the leaders for the social developments and holistic missions serving on a voluntary basis in those small villages in remote area.
LBTI aims to create a solid foundation where the other denominations may learn the means of Lutheran Identity and its historic reformation through our honorable reformer, Dr. Martin Luther in the World.
Integrated Farming and Holistic Mission

All students are also trained in organic agriculture so that the holistic needs of the churches are met. We aim that our surrounding villages are to be evangelized through the practical mission fields of the students. The missions and the Kingdom of God are to be extended through our mission partners from MMF and LWF as well as other mission organizations.
