Why LBTI is a Unique Institute among Other Seminaries and Colleges

After the faculty members and founding members of Lutheran Bible Training Institute have fasted and prayed, finally the Lord gave us three unique visions to make this institute unique among 108 theological institutions in Myanmar. There three unique departments. There are as the following:
1.    Theology Department: As we are living in the very last age of this world, we are to train God’s chosen people with the authoritative word of the Lord. We welcome all brothers and sisters from the different churches to come and study the word of God at LBTI. LBTI stands for ecumenical training whereby many younger generations will be well equipped with the truth of the Bible to become faithful servants of Christ for the end time harvest.
2.    Mission Department: We focus mainly also on the work of the Great Commission of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to be well implemented through our daily living. Our motto is “To Make Disciples (Matt.28:18-20)”. Therefore, we are here to train our younger generations to understand the importance of making the disciples unto the World.
3.    Agriculture Department: Our institute highly concern for the needs of livelihood capacity development for our community as Myanmar is well known as an agriculture country. Myanmar is rich in natural heritage or natural resources which are so useful for the lives of rural and urban farmers if they know how to make these natural resources for their farmlands. We care very much on the climate change and water pollution as well as air pollution. We train our students to be aware of the chemical farming which brings many kinds of problems and diseases to the lives of people. We focus on the holistic approach and its missions which are what the poor and marginalized people from both urban and rural villages needed.

THE NUMBER OF CURRENT STUDENTS

There are only 6 students we can accept for 2014-2015 academic years due to the limit of the funds though16 students appealed us to accept them for theological studies. Indeed, these students come from the villages, and are different denominations. They really committed themselves to study at LBTI now. However we have another training which is focusing on lay people who are from ecumenical churches. We aimed to welcome 40 participants for this year. This training will begin the same day with LBTI at Myaukchawgone village in Hmawbi Township, Myanmar. This program is supported by Lutheran World Federation, Department for Mission and Development, Geneva 2, Switzerland. Only 20 participants arrived to Yangon, some are still on the way due to the issues of their ID cards for traveling from the rural villages bordering to Bangladesh and India. They have to take almost a week to reach from Paletwa Township to Yangon.

LDURATION OF THE TRAINING
We run this training course from June 3rd to February each year to train the people of God to be the real Disciples of Christ for the End time Harvest in Myanmar.

THE MOOD OF OUR TRAINING
With deepest destination of ministry, the teachings are taught in Burmese because we have learned that this factor is the best way to reach out the Gospel to the non-Christians here. We especially emphasize on mission and church leadership now.
Besides this, special English grammar and speaking are being taught in this program. As English language is known as the global language in this period, we deeply concerned in our inner heart and mind on English.
